Two’s Care: OUR PANDAS 1:8 Ratio
This age usually considered the “terrible twos” however this is a very exciting age where learning, social and emotional changes helps them explore their world and make sense of it. Communications skills are a vital portion of this classroom as children expand their vocabularies.
Unleashing their imagination with art projects, pretend play, drawing, building with blocks, playing with toy cars, and sensory skill activities (bring out the play-doh and shaving cream!) Music, art and dramatic play encourage and shape a child’s creativity and imagination.
These activities promote the development of physical skills, from running and jumping to dressing and pre-writing. In this classroom children are encouraged to identify common objects and speak in three-to-five-word sentences.
Children’s independence will increase as they accomplish basic self-help tasks such as putting on their own shoes and jackets and putting their belongings away after nap time. The teacher will give the children many opportunities to practice these tasks as repetition is vital to learning a new skill.
Our two-year-old program fosters the critical relationship building that occurs at this age, supporting intellectual and social development. To facilitate parental involvement, teachers provide daily sheets to document and share the child’s experiences.
Our teachers strive to encourage your child to gain their independence and help them to understand how their actions affect those around. Providing constant feedback and encouragement creates a child who is excited about learning.
This classroom allows for child-choice and self-directed play, small groups and circle-time with the whole group. Each learning area is equipped and arranged in a manner appropriate for the age of the children.
Drop in care is offered if there is space available.
